Communication
FC chat revolves around amicable, encouraging, helpful – and often silly – chatter. We talk about games, family, school, work, and whatever else we would like to share with our Members. As outlined in our Discord Regulations, it is important to respect the privacy of the FC, especially any personal information that may be shared over Discord by community members in the course of conversation. Any information such as a player’s alt characters, real-life information, etc should not be shared without the player’s permission to do so. To respect the privacy of our players, when we are interacting with individuals outside of FC, we refer to them by the character name and gender of the character they are presently on/engaging the group with.
Open Communication is crucial to a friendly atmosphere. Incendiary topics of discussion (opinion-based arguments about real-world politics or religion, for example,) are to be politely avoided. If a friendly discussion appears to be escalating into something more intense, both parties should agree to disagree and move on to a different subject. While we may light-heartedly tease each other, we do not tolerate attacks on individuals. In the text-centric online universe, it is easy for harmless or well-intended comments/actions to be misread or misinterpreted.
If a member at any point feels uncomfortable they should privately contact the other player in question for clarification, or to express their concern and confusion. Players are also encouraged to also contact a Council member to address such issues as well, knowing it will be handled in a cordial fashion. Any problems should always be resolved in a respectful, rational, timely, and mature manner. Our central focus is having a comfortable community. Therefore we would never wish for players to feel any stress, discomfort, or anxiety when they log into the games that they love. We’re all just here to have fun.
